Greetings!

My name is Don Lawson and I  have the great pleasure of serving as your instructor in World Literature II. The successful completion of this course will bring you a few steps closer to completing your degree.  I trust that we will have a challenging and exciting semester to successfully accomplish your goals and aspirations.

Please take time to read through this greeting statement and become familiar with the            organization of this online course.

Note that online classes are very different than traditional face-to-face classes in terms of how the material is presented, the nature of the interaction among class members, and the overall learning experience. This course is taught using the Wiley JICS system.

The course syllabus provides you with an outline for the course and will include assignments and readings based on the corresponding chapters relating to the module for a specified time.

Strong Suggestion: Plan time in your schedule daily to work in your course . Examples: 9:00 – 10:00 daily for Math; 10:15-11:15 Science daily, etc.

Class Announcements:

Announcements will be posted as needed to keep everyone informed. Please check this area daily or each time you log onto the course site. You should also check your Wiley College email account frequently for important information from the Center Distance Learning staff.

Course Communication: You are welcome to email me at dlawson@wileyc.edu. My response time to all emails or phone calls is within 48 hours.

Discussion Board (DB): Weekly course interactions are expected as assigned and will be completed using the discussion board where we can share thoughts and reactions to the various assignments. All students will participate in weekly discussions forums. Forums must be a minimum of 50 words for the initial posts (due by Wednesday of each week).  Afterwards, you must respond to at least one of your classmate’s posts!  Each reply should be a minimum of 25 words each due weekly.  These forums should be very interactive and please do not wait until the last minute to respond. Make sure that all DB posts are fully developed, clearly focused and feel from grammatical and spelling errors. To ensure the utmost credit for your DB forums, make sure that you include more than just what is presented in the readings and lessons.  Bring ownership to your discussions by relating them to real life experiences as well as other readings. If you are new to online learning, take this time to review this section of the course.

Syllabus and Assignments: Please review the course syllabus, assignments instructions and student expectations. Class assignments, readings, videos, handouts, etc. are posted for each module. Please check the Course Content Section (by module) daily/ weekly to make sure you are not missing important assignments. Please check the course content section, syllabus and assignments instructions section for more information.

I look forward to facilitating your learning this term and hope you will enjoy your educational experience!
